According to SECTION 2.122 SPECIAL-AREA OVERLAY DISTRICTS AND AREAS of the <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>Polk County Comprehensive Plan<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/A>:<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>

Polk County Plan shall establish and utilize overlay districts or areas for the purpose of regulating development intensity where environmentally sensitive lands may be subject to adverse impacts of development, or where a specific natural or man-made feature, structure, or area requires protection.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>

The Polk County Plan shall define those areas of the County that require special care in order to maintain, develop, or enhance an existing resource(s) through the establishment and mapping of Resource-Protection Districts as part of the Future Land Use Map Series and described in Policy 2.124.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>

According to SECTION 2.124-F <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICTS<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>of the <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>Polk County Comprehensive Plan<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/A>:<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>

Polk County Plan shall address areas in need of revitalization within the County. The Future Land Use Map Series shall designate and map as \"Redevelopment District\" overlay those areas with a revitalization plan as approved or accepted by the Board. These areas are identified as being low to moderate income as defined by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development income standards and the County. The non-prioritized <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>A<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>Redevelopment District<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>@<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>overlays include but are not limited to the following: Adams Grove, Babson Park/Highland Park, Bradley Junction, Crystal Lake, Davenport, Eaton Park, Echo Terrace, Eloise, Florence Villa, Fuller Heights, Fussells Corner (Carters), Griffin Quarters, Highland City, Highland Park Manor, Inwood, Jamestown, K-Ville, Kathleen, Lakeview Park, Lakewood Park, Mammoth Grove, Maxi-Quarters, Medulla, Mullinsville, Nichols, North Florida Heights, Old Polk City Road, Loughman, Lynchbur, Rolling Hills, Wabash, Wahneta, Washington Park, Waverly, and Winston.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>

Additional policies throughout the Polk County Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code provide guidance for development and preservation of redevelopment districts within the un-incorporated areas of Polk County. <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>
