Description: According to SECTION 2.132 CRITICAL AREA RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN of the Polk County Comprehensive Plan:The Critical Area Resource Management Plan is comprised of the Green Swamp Area of Critical State Concern as designated by the State Legislature. The following policies are intended to comply with statutory requirements.The following special protection areas shall be designated and mapped on the Polk County Future Land Use Map Series in accordance with the criteria established within Sections 2.132-B, 2.132-C, and 2.132-D on the Future Land Use Map Series:Ridge Area Special Protection Area (RIDGE-SPA)Polk City/Urban Growth Special Protection Area (PC-SPA)Rural Special Protection Area (RURAL-SPA)Additional policies throughout the Polk County Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code provide guidance for development within Special Protection Areas (SPA) within the un-incorporated areas of Polk County. This is one dataset used to create the “Polk County Comprehensive Plan Map Series”. It must be interpreted in conjunction with the other data and maps of the series along with the objectives and policies of the “Polk County Comprehensive Plan” as adopted and amended by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners. The most current Comprehensive Plan documents can be viewed on the county's website at http://www.polk-county.net/compplan.
